Download - Furnace Re:Dux, Subconcious Communications - sub30

This is the reissue of the first album (1995) by Download of cEvin Key, co-founder of Skinny Puppy. The experimentation of Skinny Puppy goes even further in this project, leading to an industrial album with many I.D.M. and Ambient elements (anyways, good industrial and experimentation are synonyms...). Don't except an easy listening album, but one that you will spend much time listening to in order to drain its full potential, as all true experimental acts.

This reissue also includes bonus studio material, parts of which later became album songs, but they give an amazing picture of how the syntheses evolve in the studio and how ideas materialise and transmute.

Also Genesis P. Orridge from Throbbing Gristle accepted to perform the only vocals in the whole album. Need any other proof that this is a 100% pure industrial album?

My personal pick, one of the best songs EVER!

Burial - Untrue, Hyperdub HDBLP002

Dubstep is not my thing. It's ok for clubs and for the radio, but really not the kind of music I will play at home. I really can't find much depth in it, in terms of feeling and compositions. Undoubtedly though, it is the most recent and important music manifestation from the motherland of many genres, UK.

Undoubtedly also, here we are not talking about a dubstep album. We are talking about another musical masterpiece. Mr. Burial, aka William Emmanuel Bevan, transcends through dubstep/downtempo/ambient with characteristic ease, creating an amalgam of astonishing beauty. Far from the standard musical compositions of dubstep, and far from the ``dance attitude'' of all dubstep albums. Untrue is an expression of sweet melancholy, bursting with emotions and creating a magnificent dream scape.

Give it a try and you won't regret it. 10/10, another diamond

Hecq - Avenger, Hymen Records - ¥792

-Me: I've sent you a track to listen, it's not your music style, but it is great!!
-Girlfriend: Oh, ok again. I'll listen to it...
-It's too abstract, but it is great! I'm sure you'll love it.
-No answer...
-Well???
-I don't believe this! I have been listening this track on the radio for the last two weeks and I though that I would never find the artist! This is an AMAZING song!!!!

Well...Hecq! Avenger is by far the most interesting to listen album by Hecq imho. Seriously away from their more experimental, abstract soundscapes of the past, into a much more ``clubby'' version, maintaining all the beautiful complexity of their syntheses! For me, Avenger and Night Falls, which is a pure dark ambient album (see older posts) are by far the most interesting pieces of art created by Mr. Boysen, easily accessible to a much wider audience.

The track, of course, was Bane. Have a listen...What do you think? I knew you would like it too!

I would also focus your attention to the outrageously amazing cover of "With Angels" by Trifonic...

This Morn' Omina - L'Unification Des Forces Opposantes, Ant-Zen act 262

I was never a big fan of This Morn' Omina. Their previous releases were nice, but nothing to blow your head away. A few very nice songs, but never something solid. Well, their last creation however + the previous EP (Momentum of Singular Clarity) are f******* AMAZING!!!!!!!!

Industrial/Rhythm noise AT ITS BEST, with a perfectly balanced mixture of tribal and ethnic elements in the vein of Muslimgauze (Bryn would definitely recommend!); probably the most pleasant to listen experimental album of 2011.

Not many words here, probably I will add some more info sometime later when I'll finally stop listening to this album.

If you want to listen some really innovative and good M U S I C, GO AND GET IT!!!

This Morn' Omina surely earned another big fan...

Skinny Puppy - HanDover, SPV 308282

Front Line Assembly and Skinny Puppy are the most prominent industrial bands in Canada and in the American continent in total. Period.

Very few bands managed to set standards so high that only themselves can surpass. Off the top of my head I can think of only one more band, Coil (R.I.P.).

New album from one of the best then. Not much to say, since both bands for 20+ years are continuously producing music beyond usual perspectives and ideas. The result was expected. The new album, of course goes beyond Mythmaker in terms of syntheses and is better than it. It creates its own unique atmosphere, more grotesque than Mythmaker, without missing "headbanging'' pure industrial tracks (e.g. "Village"). As for lyrics... as usual, an overflow of meanings, symbolisms and emotions. The very big asset of Skinny Puppy.

100% Skinny Puppy industrial sound and experimentation. Definitely more evolved than their previous works but still... 100% Skinny Puppy. One of the very few bands that you recognize just be listening one of their new songs, without looking the cd cover.

Just make yourself a favor and add this masterpiece in your collection.

A million miles of pain friend, I'll see you in another dream...
My heart can't contain the missing fragments of memories...

Architect - Upload Select Remix, Hymen Records – ¥794

Architect is probably the most known project of Mr. Daniel Mayers after Haujobb, the man with the thousand musical faces (projects). Most of his compositions as Architect, are a more elaborate and complicated form of Haujobb, transcending through various genres but mainly characterized by a minimal approach with lots of ambient/industrial elements.

This work is a remix selection of songs from "Consume Adapt Create". Although the original album is more I.D.M./minimal-oriented, this selection of remixes is a much more atmospheric and ambient approach. Original album-->club (I wish), remix album-->home . I don't tend to mention remix albums, but this is a bright exception with very serious reasons for existance.

Hecq - Night Falls, Hymen Records – ¥767

A dark ambient masterpiece by Hecq. The downtempo/IDM foundations of
Ben Lukas Boysen are also obvious here, creating a mesmerizing, emotionally intense atmosphere, with much more minimalistic and ethereal soundscapes than pure dark ambient bands.

Turn off the lights, and listen... Night falls...
